What actually determines the number

Model and material. Métis ≠ Neverfull. Empreinte often holds better than coated canvas; Vernis discounts against both.

Vachetta condition. Untreated trim often decides Monogram value. Even honey patina can be desirable. Water staining, dark handle transfer, and dryness move the number down.

Glazing. Painted edges crack with age — endemic on Pochette Métis; we check every edge. Often repairable; we price repair in.

Corners / interior / completeness. Rubbing vs worn-to-board; sticky lining is frequently a hard decline; locks/keys/clochette/dust bag matter on Keepalls and similar.
