What happens after you accept an offer
You said yes to a firm conditional buyout. What next? This page walks the ops after accept at The Private Bag Co. in Middle Tennessee: paperwork, bag handoff, payment kickoff, receipts, and what happens if you pause, decline at the last step, or switch to consign.
It is not a reprint of how we pay for designer bags (method/timing menu), same-day conditional offer Nashville (when a same-day firm number is realistic), or designer handbag buyout checklist (end-to-end pre-accept sequence). Those remain the deep dives; this page is post-accept close.

All buyouts are conditional pending physical inspection and authentication. Accepting a preliminary photo range is not a close. Payment timing is named by method — not “instant cash” from photos. Commercial heart roughly $500–$5,000. Independent — not affiliated with the brands.

Accept means this (and only this)
| You accepted… | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Firm conditional buyout number after inspection | Close path starts |
| Preliminary Worth range only | Not accept — still pre-offer |
| Consign list price discussion | Consign path — not buyout close (consignment timeline) |
Conditional still means the offer was based on inspection/auth findings stated to you. If a material finding changes before handoff completes, we pause and restate — we do not silently alter a signed number without telling you.
Close sequence (buyout)
-
Restate the number and method
Confirm buyout figure, chosen payment method, and timing window. Ask questions now. How we pay. -
Paperwork
Ownership warranty, ID copy as required, bill of sale / intake forms for the path (appointment, come-to-you, or ship-in). Soft-launch: responsible intake — no anonymous cash sidewalk deals. -
Bag handoff / custody
– Appointment / come-to-you: bag transfers when paperwork and payment kickoff align
– Ship-in: custody already with us at intake; accept finalises sale -
Payment kickoff
Physical currency counted/receipted when used; ACH initiated; or cheque issued — per stated timing. Not undefined instant cash. -
Receipts / confirmation
You leave (or receive) written confirmation of amount, method, and date. Keep it. -
Done
Bag is ours to resell; your seller obligation on that piece ends per the warranty you signed.
Path chooser if you have not booked yet: ship vs appointment.
Appointment / come-to-you close (in person)
Typical room flow after you accept:
- Sign / acknowledge buyout paperwork
- Method confirmed (currency on hand vs ACH/cheque)
- Bag and agreed accessories change custody
- Payment starts
- You leave with confirmation
Prep so close is not delayed: what to bring · what to include · dust bag & box value. Corridor: Green Hills & Franklin · come-to-you.
Ship-in close (after intake)
- We complete intake inspection and send firm conditional offer
- You accept in writing (email/form as directed)
- Paperwork completes remotely as required
- Payment kickoff per how we pay
- If you decline, return shipping terms follow the ship-in agreement — see insured ship-in
Same-calendar-day payout is less common on ship-in than on a booked appointment — we say timing up front.
If you decline after hearing the firm number
Declining a firm offer before accept is normal and respected. After partial paperwork:
- We stop payment
- Custody rules depend on how far handoff went — we clarify before you sign anything
- You may ask about consign instead — different agreement (buyout vs consign)
Pressure-free close is part of soft-launch trust. When not to sell.
If verification pauses the close
Sometimes accept waits — or we unwind — when:
- Ownership warranty / ID incomplete
- Authentication steps need more time
- A material condition note was missed in photos
We communicate the pause. We do not rush a cash slogan past incomplete intake. Authentication process · how we verify.
Consign accept is different
Accepting a consign plan means:
- You approve list posture / price band per agreement
- Timeline to live listing and payout follows consign rules
- You are not paid like a buyout at accept
Consignment Nashville · consignment timeline · Hermès/Gucci: consign-only.
What we will not claim
- That accept of a photo range equals payment
- Instant cash as a post-accept slogan
- That every close finishes in five minutes regardless of method
- Fabricated “average close time” metrics

FAQ
I accepted the preliminary range — am I closed?
No. Preliminary ≠ firm conditional offer. Close starts after inspection offer + your accept.
When does the bag become yours to keep / ours to sell?
At completed handoff under signed buyout paperwork — we walk that moment with you.
Can I switch to consign after a buyout offer?
Sometimes, if we agree to list and you accept consign terms — it is a new path, not an automatic switch.
What if ACH details are wrong?
Payout delays until corrected — bring accurate details to close.
Do you pay before I sign?
No. Paperwork and accept come with payment kickoff — order confirmed in-session.
Ship-in: what if I decline the firm offer?
Return process follows the ship-in agreement; we do not keep the bag as a forced sale. —
